Cost from Acapulco Airport to the City and Coast

This page gives the figures that the airport operator publishes and says plainly where none exist.

Authorised taxis and transport companies

The airport's operator, OMA, says that you can hire authorised taxi companies or transport businesses for the city-airport-city service, and that the cost and the type of service depend on the company hired. It lists four companies, each accepting cash and credit card, with hours of 05:00 to 23:00. It publishes no fare table, so no taxi price is given here. Ask each company how the price is set, whether it is per vehicle or per person, and whether bags, extra stops or tolls change it. Agree the total before you travel.

Pre-booked private transfer

The price is shown when you request a quote on this page and is confirmed at booking. Our route database lists distances of about 8 km to Acapulco Diamante, about 18 km to the Costera and Zona Dorada, about 20 km to the traditional centre, about 28 km to Pie de la Cuesta, about 31 km to San Marcos centre and about 34 km to Barra de Coyuca. Price depends on destination and vehicle, so use the quote tool rather than guessing.

Car rental and parking

The operator's site has pages for car rental and for parking. We give no figures for either, because the rates belong to the rental companies and to the operator and can change. Check those pages if you plan to drive.

What to add up

Compare the total for your whole group and your luggage, and the time, not only the fare for one person. If you are going beyond the main hotel areas, for example to Coyuca de Benitez, which our route database puts at about 52 km, the ride is long and a pre-booked quote is easier to compare than a price agreed at the kerb. If you pay in a foreign currency, exchange rates and card fees apply, so ask your bank before you travel.

The bottom line

There is no published taxi tariff at the airport, and the price depends on the company. A pre-booked transfer has its price confirmed in advance. Ask before you get in, agree the total, and keep your booking confirmation or the agreed price on your phone. Remember that a low price for a long ride is worth a second question: ask what is included, and whether the price changes at night or with extra bags.
