Rome Ciampino Airport with Children and Family

Last updated: October 2026

Popular CIA transfers - fixed price, book in minutes

The ride from Ciampino into Rome comes at the end of a tiring journey, and the airport's pages give no journey time figures, so plan for a margin rather than a fixed time.

At the airport

The airport's transport pages give no family-specific information such as baby rooms or play areas, so none are described here. They do not describe the arrivals hall either.

Getting to your accommodation with children

Taxi: Official taxis are white, with a TAXI sign on the roof and the licence number on the doors, and wait at the exit of the Arrivals area. Fixed fares are 40 EUR to Mura Aureliane, Stazione Ostiense and Stazione Tiburtina and 55 EUR to Fiumicino Airport, with a 25.00 EUR minimum for arrivals without a fixed fare. The municipality sets the fares and they may change without notice, and the page shows no tariff date. Take only a licensed taxi from the marked area, because the operator warns that other vehicles in front of the exit may be driven by unlicensed people.

Ciampino Airlink: A bus leaves from in front of the terminal about every 20 minutes to Ciampino station, and you continue by train to Roma Termini. With a stroller and bags the change from bus to train takes effort; ask Trenitalia if you need help.

Pre-booked transfer: The vehicle goes to your door. You can ask for a larger vehicle for strollers and luggage. Check your booking confirmation for the meeting point, and use the quote tool on this page for the price.

Child seats

No official statement on child seat rules or availability in taxis was found. If you need a seat, request it when you book a transfer and give the child's age and weight, then confirm it in your booking confirmation. Do not assume a taxi will have one.

Practical points

Carry water, snacks and any medicine in your hand luggage. Keep passports and your accommodation address within reach. If one adult can stay with the bags while the other finds the driver, arrivals go more smoothly.

The bottom line

With young children, a licensed ride that goes straight to your accommodation is usually the calmer way to end a long journey.
