Osaka Itami Airport is 14 km north of central Osaka. It is a domestic-only airport with excellent public transport connections, making it one of the more affordable airport transfers in Japan.

Other destinations
Limousine bus fares are from Hankyu Kanko Bus, the operator (hankyu-kankobus.co.jp), and are revised periodically. Monorail fares are from the Osaka Monorail official fare table. Where the connecting train leg is charged by a second operator (Hankyu, Osaka Metro) we point you at that operator rather than quote a total we cannot source. Where no distance is given we have not estimated a taxi fare.
Understanding Japanese taxi pricing
Japanese taxis use meters — no negotiation, no scams. The Osaka tariff is 600 JPY for the first 1.2 km, then 100 JPY per 231 m, plus 100 JPY for every 1 minute 25 seconds spent stopped (Osaka Taxi Association, tariff effective 5 November 2025). A 20% surcharge applies between 22:00 and 05:00, though this rarely matters at Itami since the airport closes early. Over the 14 km to Umeda the meter reaches roughly 6,100 JPY before waiting time. The tariff is revised periodically — check the current one before you travel.
Highway tolls are added to the meter fare. The route to Umeda may include expressway tolls depending on the driver's route choice. You can ask the driver to avoid the expressway (ippan douro) to save on tolls, but the trip will take longer.
Cheapest option
The limousine bus to Umeda at 730 JPY (Hankyu Kanko Bus, the operator) is direct and arguably the most convenient — no transfers, luggage stored below, and it drops you right at a major station. The monorail is cheaper on its own leg (200 JPY to Hotarugaike) but you then pay Hankyu's separate fare on top, so compare the two for your destination.
What IC cards cover
If you have an ICOCA, Suica, or PASMO card, you can use it on the monorail, all connecting trains, and most taxis. Top the card up before heading to the monorail to avoid buying individual tickets.
