SJD - San Jose del Cabo

How Much Does It Cost to Get from SJD Airport to Your Hotel?

Los Cabos International Airport serves two main destinations: San Jose del Cabo (the closer town, about 15 km away) and Cabo San Lucas (the busier tourist hub, about 35 km away). The Tourist Corridor, a stretch of beachfront resorts between the two towns, falls somewhere in the middle. Your cost depends entirely on which of these three zones your accommodation is in.

San Jose del Cabo

This is the closest destination to the airport. A private transfer runs $45-60 USD, and the drive takes about 20-30 minutes. Shared shuttles cost $18-25 per person. Official airport taxis charge $60-80 USD — you buy a ticket at the booth outside arrivals and hand it to the driver.

San Jose del Cabo is the quieter, more traditional town. If your hotel is in the downtown area or the hotel zone along the beach, a standard sedan transfer is fine.

The Tourist Corridor

The corridor stretches along Highway 1 between the two towns and is home to many of the large resorts. Private transfers cost $55-75 USD depending on exactly where your resort sits along the corridor. The drive is 25-40 minutes.

Shared shuttles may or may not serve corridor resorts — check before booking. Some resorts are set back from the highway with long access roads, and shuttle drivers sometimes skip them.

Cabo San Lucas

The furthest major destination from SJD airport. Private transfers run $65-85 USD and take 40-50 minutes. Shared shuttles cost $25-35 per person but add considerable time due to multiple stops — budget 1.5-2 hours.

Airport taxis to Cabo San Lucas charge $90-120 USD. This is where the savings from a pre-booked transfer are most noticeable — you can save $30-40 compared to the taxi booth price.

What Affects the Price

Vehicle size matters. A standard sedan or SUV fits 2-3 passengers with luggage. If your group is larger or you have bulky items (golf clubs, surfboards, dive gear), you'll need a van or Suburban, which adds $15-25 to the base price.

Time of day has minimal impact on pricing for pre-booked transfers. Taxis at the airport booth have fixed zone-based pricing regardless of when you arrive.

The Real Cost Comparison

For a couple heading to Cabo San Lucas, a pre-booked private transfer at $75 USD is cheaper than a taxi ($100+), faster than a shuttle (which costs $50-70 total for two people but takes much longer), and far more comfortable than trying to arrange a rideshare at an airport where they face restrictions.

For solo travelers on a budget, the shared shuttle remains the cheapest door-to-door option. Just set your expectations for the time involved.
