Late night arrival at Krakow Airport — what are your options?

Last updated: April 2026

Krakow Airport handles many late-night budget airline flights (Ryanair, Wizz Air). If your flight lands after 10 PM, here's what you need to know.

The last train situation

The last airport train departs around 11:30 PM, but check the exact time for your travel date. Many budget flights land between 10-11:30 PM — if yours does, the train is still an option, but factor in:

  • 15-20 minutes for baggage and passport control
  • 5 minutes to walk to the platform
  • The risk of just missing it

If there's any doubt, have a backup plan.

Taxis at night

Official taxis operate 24/7 at Krakow Airport. The rank outside arrivals usually has cars waiting, even after midnight. Krakow taxi companies set their own rate cards and most run a higher night tariff, so expect to pay more after dark than during the day — the rate card in the window tells you what that company charges and when the night rate starts. There is no single official airport taxi tariff to quote.

Always use the official taxi rank. Late at night, unofficial drivers are more active. Look for marked vehicles with visible taxi signs and meters.

Uber/Bolt at night

Both apps work at night, but wait times increase significantly after midnight (10-20 minutes vs. 3-5 during the day). On Friday and Saturday nights, availability is better but surge pricing can apply.

Uber/Bolt usually stays cheaper than official taxis at night, but the fare is set in the app at the moment you book — check the quote rather than a published figure.

Pre-booked transfer — the safe bet

For flights landing after 11 PM, a pre-booked transfer eliminates all uncertainty:

  • Driver waits inside arrivals with your name
  • Flight tracked — they adjust for delays
  • A price fixed when you book, not a running meter
  • No searching for taxis, no app wait times, no language issues

It costs more than a taxi or a Bolt. After a late Ryanair flight, whether that premium is worth it is a judgement call — compare the quoted transfer price against the app before you decide.

Night bus (Route 902)

Krakow Airport lists night line 902 among the buses serving the airport. It is infrequent (every 60+ minutes). Not recommended unless you're very comfortable with Krakow and traveling ultra-light. Tickets come from the machine in the arrivals hall or on board.

Safety at Krakow Airport at night

The airport is safe and well-lit. The taxi rank is monitored. The drive into Krakow takes about 20 minutes on quiet nighttime roads.

Krakow's Old Town is lively on weekend nights with many bars and restaurants open late. It's a safe city. The Kazimierz neighborhood is particularly active at night. Your hotel should be accessible at any hour.

If you need to wait until morning

The airport terminal has basic seating but isn't ideal for overnight stays. If you need accommodation:

  • Hotel Galaxy — about 5 minutes from the airport by taxi
  • Holiday Inn Krakow City Centre — in the city
  • There's no hotel directly at the airport terminal
