ICN is one of the better airports for late arrivals, but transport options do thin out after midnight.
What is available after midnight
| Option | Available? | Notes | |--------|-----------|-------| | AREX Express | No | Last train around 10:50 PM | | AREX All-Stop | Limited | Last train around 11:30 PM | | Airport limousine bus | Some routes | Last buses vary by route, 10:30 PM - midnight | | N-buses (night buses) | Limited routes | N7000 to Seoul runs through the night | | Taxis | Yes, 24/7 | 20% late-night surcharge + tolls | | Private transfer | Yes | Pre-booked, driver waits, no surcharge |
The late-night taxi math
A daytime taxi to Seoul Station costs roughly KRW 73,000-92,000 including tolls. After midnight, add the 20% surcharge to the meter portion: that same ride becomes KRW 85,000-105,000 (~69-85 EUR). To Gangnam, expect KRW 100,000-130,000 (~81-105 EUR).
Taxis are always available at ICN, even at 3 AM. The queue moves fast at night. But the price increase is real.
The N7000 night bus option
The N7000 night bus runs from ICN to Seoul Station through the night, departing roughly every 30-40 minutes. The fare is KRW 10,000 (~8 EUR). It takes about 90-100 minutes and makes several stops. Comfortable enough but slow, and not ideal with heavy luggage.
Why pre-booking works at night
A pre-booked transfer driver tracks your flight. If you land at 1:30 AM after a delay, the driver adjusts without extra charges. The price is locked at the daytime rate. You walk out, find your name sign, and leave. No fumbling with translation apps, no late-night surcharge, no toll surprises.
Staying at the airport overnight
If your Seoul hotel check-in is not until morning, ICN is a comfortable place to wait. Darakhyu capsule hotel is in the transit area of Terminal 1. Rest zones with reclining chairs are free. Convenience stores (CU, 7-Eleven) are open 24/7. Free Wi-Fi covers the entire airport. Many travelers prefer to sleep at ICN and take the first AREX at 5:20 AM rather than pay for a late-night taxi.
