Getting from Ibiza Airport to your hotel with kids

Last updated: March 2026

Ibiza is increasingly popular with families, not just clubbers. The airport is compact and manageable with children. The main considerations are child seats, taxi availability, and the timing of your arrival.

The terminal with children

Ibiza Airport is small. The walk from arrivals to the transport options outside is short — a significant plus compared to large airports. Baggage claim is one hall. Trolleys are available.

In peak summer, the arrivals area can feel crowded during busy charter flight slots. The terminal is not particularly child-friendly with amenities — limited seating, basic café — but the short walk outside compensates.

Child seats

Ibiza taxis do not carry child seats. If your children are young enough to require one, you need to either bring your own or book a private transfer and request a seat at the time of booking.

Bringing your own car seat and fitting it in a taxi is legally acceptable but logistically awkward. Most families in this situation find pre-booking a transfer with a seat arranged in advance to be the cleaner solution.

Ibiza roads are generally good but driving speeds can be fast on the main routes (particularly the C-731 to San Antonio). A child seat is genuinely advisable.

Transport for families

Pre-booked private transfer with minivan: The practical choice for families. The driver meets you inside at arrivals, the vehicle is sized for your group and luggage, and child seats can be arranged. No queuing, no uncertainty, and no hauling bags across a taxi forecourt with children in tow.

Taxi: Works for families with older children who do not need car seats. The rank is directly outside and queues are short during the day. Standard saloon cars fit two adults and two children with two suitcases. For more luggage or a larger family, ask for an MPV or estate at the rank — not always available, requires waiting for the right vehicle.

Bus: Not practical for families with children. Luggage management on a busy bus, limited frequency, no help with bags, and only serves Ibiza Town.

Journey to the main family resorts

Ibiza has several family-friendly resort areas that are popular alternatives to Ibiza Town's nightlife zone:

  • Santa Eulalia (20 km northeast): A relaxed family resort with a marina and calm beaches. EUR 28-38 by taxi, 30-40 minutes.
  • Playa d'en Bossa (3 km): Very close to the airport. Quick and cheap to reach, though the area is also known for club hotels. EUR 12-18 by taxi.
  • Es Canar / Cala Martina (25 km): Quieter family areas on the east coast. EUR 35-48 by taxi.
  • Portinatx (north, 40 km): Remote family resort in the north. EUR 55-70 by taxi, around 55-65 minutes.

Practical tips

  • Book your transfer in advance if arriving in peak season (July-August) or at night, regardless of children. The taxi situation at night is difficult for anyone.
  • Request child seats when booking. Specify ages and weights at the time of booking so the correct seat type is provided.
  • Santa Eulalia is genuinely calm. If you are a family and choosing between resort areas, the east coast is quieter than San Antonio or the Playa d'en Bossa strip.
  • The airport itself is fine with strollers. Elevators are available. Baggage trolleys fit through all the exits.
