The Aerobus 113 — best budget option

At EUR 5, the Aerobus 113 is an excellent deal. It follows the coastal road from the airport through Santa Cruz, Canico, and along to Funchal center. The bus is modern and air-conditioned. It runs approximately every hour during the day.

Tickets can be purchased on board or at the stop. The journey takes 30–45 minutes to Funchal center with several stops along the way.

The Aerobus does not serve northern or western Madeira destinations. If you are heading to Santana, Porto Moniz, or Calheta, you need a taxi or transfer.

No toll roads, no hidden costs

Madeira has no toll roads. The motorway (Via Rapida) connecting the airport to Funchal and beyond is free. This means the price your taxi meter or transfer service quotes is the full cost — no surprises for highway tolls.
