Pärnu Airport is probably the least stressful airport experience you will have with children. The terminal is tiny, the ride is short, and the town is a popular family holiday destination.
The terminal
There is no long walk, no escalators, no confusing signs. You exit the aircraft, walk across the tarmac, and enter a small building. The entire process from landing to standing outside takes minutes when flights are on time. There are no dedicated family facilities — no baby-changing room, no play area — but given the size and speed of transit, you are unlikely to need them.
Child seats
Estonian law requires appropriate child restraints. In practice:
- Bolt: The app has a child seat option you can select when ordering. Availability depends on the driver — not all have one.
- Local taxis: Most do not carry child seats unless requested in advance.
- Pre-booked transfer: Request a child seat (specify age/weight) when booking. This is the most reliable way to guarantee one.
The ride
Four kilometres on a well-maintained Estonian road. No hills, no winding mountain passes, no traffic chaos. The ride takes under 10 minutes. Children will barely notice it.
Pärnu as a family destination
Pärnu is Estonia's summer capital — a beach town with shallow, calm water that is ideal for small children. The beach is sandy and gently sloping. In summer (June-August), water temperatures reach a modest but swimmable level. There are playgrounds, parks, and ice cream shops along the promenade.
Luggage
Any standard vehicle handles typical family luggage for this short ride. If you have an extraordinary amount of gear (stroller, travel cot, car seat, multiple large cases), mention it when booking a transfer so an appropriate vehicle is arranged.
Tips for families
- Have Bolt installed with a payment method set up before you land.
- If your child needs a car seat and you are not bringing your own, pre-book a transfer with a seat request.
- Pack a snack — there is nothing to buy at the airport.
- Pärnu town centre is compact and walkable, so once you arrive at your hotel, you may not need any more transport.
