Arriving at Da Nang Airport Late at Night

Last updated: February 2026

Da Nang Airport handles several late evening international flights, particularly from regional hubs like Seoul, Bangkok, and Singapore. If you are landing after 10 PM, here is what to expect.

The airport after dark

The terminal operates as normal for arriving flights. Immigration and baggage claim function on the same schedule. The arrivals area is well-lit and staffed. SIM card vendors may close after the last flights, but ATMs are available 24 hours.

The airport is quiet late at night - Da Nang does not have the volume of flights that larger Vietnamese airports like Ho Chi Minh City handle. This means shorter immigration queues and faster baggage delivery.

Getting to Da Nang city at night

Da Nang is only 3 km from the airport, so even a late-night arrival does not present much of a challenge for reaching city hotels.

Grab is available after midnight but with reduced drivers. You may wait 5-10 minutes instead of the usual 2-3. Prices remain the same - about 40,000-80,000 VND to the center.

Taxis (Mai Linh, Vinasun) are available at the rank. There may be fewer cars waiting after midnight, but the airport staff will help direct you. The metered fare to the center is the same day or night.

Getting to Hoi An at night

The 30 km drive to Hoi An is where a late arrival matters more. The road between Da Nang and Hoi An is dark outside the built-up areas, with limited street lighting in places. Traffic is minimal, making the drive faster (about 30-35 minutes) but the road passes through rural stretches.

Grab drivers may be less willing to make the Hoi An run late at night, and availability in Hoi An for the return journey is their concern. You might face a longer wait or cancellations.

A pre-booked transfer is the most reliable option for late-night Hoi An arrivals. The driver is committed to the trip regardless of the hour, and they know the road well.

Hoi An after midnight

Hoi An's old town is quiet after about 10 PM. Most restaurants close, lanterns are turned off, and the streets empty. If you are arriving late, there will not be much to see or do beyond checking in.

Confirm your hotel's late check-in policy before you travel. Most hotels in Hoi An can accommodate late arrivals, but smaller guesthouses may need advance notice to have someone at the desk.

Safety

Da Nang and the road to Hoi An are safe at night. Vietnam is generally a safe country for tourists. The main concern is simply practical - finding transport, not personal safety.

Keep your hotel address written down in Vietnamese if possible. Late-night drivers may speak less English than daytime ones.

Practical tips

Have Vietnamese Dong ready before landing if you can. If not, ATMs at the airport work around the clock. You will need cash for a taxi - Grab can be paid through the app.

Download the Grab app and set it up before you land. Having it ready to go when you exit arrivals saves time.

If your flight is delayed and you are arriving very late (past 1 AM), a quick message to your hotel and transfer provider lets everyone adjust. Both are used to flight delays and will accommodate.
