Arriving at Belo Horizonte Airport Late at Night — Your Options

Last updated: March 2026

Confins Airport has limited international traffic, but domestic flights from Sao Paulo, Rio, and Brasilia land throughout the evening. Some international arrivals from Lisbon and Latin American cities reach CNF after 10 PM. Here is what to expect.

What is available after midnight

| Option | Available? | Notes | |--------|-----------|-------| | Official taxi | Yes, 24 hours | Metered, fewer vehicles late at night | | 99 / Uber | Partially | Fewer drivers, surge pricing common | | Pre-booked transfer | Yes, 24 hours | Fixed price, flight tracking | | Conexao Aeroporto bus | No | Last departure around 11 PM | | Conventional bus | No | Last departure early evening |

The late-night reality

CNF is 40 km from Belo Horizonte — this matters at night. The distance means ride-hailing drivers are reluctant to make the trip for a low fare, and the return journey is empty for them. After midnight, you may see wait times of 15–30 minutes on 99 or Uber, and surge pricing of 1.5–2.5x is common.

Official taxis are available at the rank, but the selection thins after midnight. You will likely find vehicles, but you cannot be selective about the car.

A pre-booked transfer eliminates all uncertainty. The driver monitors your flight, arrives when you actually land (not when you were scheduled to), and drives a vehicle you have already agreed on.

The 40 km drive at night

The upside of a late arrival is that the MG-010 highway is empty. Without traffic, the drive to Savassi or Centro takes just 35–40 minutes. The road is a modern divided highway, well-lit for most of the route.

Safety on Brazilian highways at night is a concern that travelers raise. The airport highway is one of the safer routes — it is well-maintained, patrolled, and leads directly into the city. Stay on the main road and you are fine.

Inside the terminal at night

CNF is a modern terminal that handles late arrivals smoothly. ATMs work 24 hours. The arrivals area has seating. A few food options may still be open depending on the flight schedule. Free Wi-Fi works throughout the terminal.

If you are stuck without transport, the terminal is safe and staffed. Waiting for a ride-hailing driver or until the first morning bus at approximately 5:30 AM is uncomfortable but feasible.

Should you stay near the airport?

Unlike some airports, CNF does not have a cluster of hotels within walking distance. The nearest accommodation is in Lagoa Santa or Confins town, about 5–10 km away. If you have an early morning connection, staying nearby makes sense, but for most travelers, pushing through to Belo Horizonte is the better call — the drive is fast at night.

Recommendation

For late-night arrivals at CNF, book a transfer. The 40 km distance, limited ride-hailing availability, and lack of nearby hotels make this the one situation where pre-booking genuinely saves you headaches.
