How much does it cost to get from Malaga Airport to your destination

Malaga Airport serves a very wide range of destinations from close Torremolinos to distant Granada. Here is what each option costs, taken from the official tariffs rather than estimated.

The one thing to understand first

Taxi fares from Malaga Airport work in two completely different ways depending on where you are going.

Into Malaga city, taxis run on a dedicated airport tariff with a minimum fare: 18,24 EUR on weekdays between 06:00 and 22:00, 22,48 EUR evenings, weekends and holidays, and 25,80 EUR late at night (Junta de Andalucía resolution authorising Malaga's taxi tariffs, February 2026). Over the 11 km into the centre the metered distance falls below that floor, so the minimum is what you pay.

To anywhere outside the city, the Andalusian interurban tariff applies — and it charges the journey as a closed circuit back to the starting point. You pay for the driver's empty return as well as your own trip. At the weekday rate of EUR 0.71 per kilometre, Marbella's 52 km is billed as roughly 104 km. That is not a scam; it is the published rule, and it is why the numbers below are higher than the distances suggest.

Price breakdown by transport type

Cercanías train (C1)

• Runs from inside the terminal to Malaga city centre (María Zambrano and Centro Alameda), and down the coast to Torremolinos, Benalmádena and Fuengirola
• Trains run every 20 minutes, 6:30 AM to 11:40 PM
• A standard short-hop Cercanías fare — cheap, but Renfe sets and revises it, so check renfe.com or the machines at Aeropuerto station rather than a figure printed here. You can also tap a contactless card at the gates
• Limitation: Only serves stations on the C1 line. For Marbella, Nerja, or inland destinations, you need another form of transport.

Airport Express Bus (Line A)

• To Malaga city centre: EUR 4.00, per the Consorcio de Transporte Metropolitano del Área de Málaga
• Journey time: 30-40 minutes

Long-distance bus (ALSA/Avanza)

• Serves Marbella, Fuengirola, Nerja and other coast towns
• Slow but economical for budget solo travellers. Fares depend on the operator and route — check the operator's own site

Metered taxi

Guideline prices published by the Ayuntamiento de Málaga for journeys from the airport. The first figure is the weekday daytime rate; the second applies at night, at weekends and on public holidays. The city's notice is explicit that the taximeter is the maximum price.

Supplements on top: EUR 0.58 per suitcase in the boot, EUR 2.23 for journeys between 00:00 and 06:00, and EUR 2.79 from the fifth passenger in an adapted vehicle.

Note: journeys to Marbella and beyond may use the AP-7 toll motorway. Confirm with the driver whether the toll route will be used and whether it is on top.

Pre-booked private transfer

Prices are fixed and quoted at the point of booking, so there is no single published figure to print here. The honest way to use this page is to take a quote and compare it against the official taxi guideline for your destination in the table above — on the long routes, where a taxi bills you for the driver's return, transfers are frequently the cheaper of the two.

What drives the cost

The return leg is the dominant factor, not raw distance. Because the interurban tariff bills a closed circuit, every kilometre out of Malaga costs you two.

Time of day. The weekend, holiday and night rate is roughly 13-14% above the weekday daytime rate across the board — Marbella EUR 74 becomes EUR 84, Granada EUR 192 becomes EUR 219.

The AP-7 toll motorway runs parallel to the N-340 coast road. It is significantly faster, especially in summer when the N-340 through Torremolinos and Fuengirola is slow. Taxis may or may not use it — confirm beforehand.

Ronda involves a mountain road (A-367) with winding sections. The 105 km takes 80-95 minutes — longer than purely distance-based expectations.

Group size makes a significant difference on long routes, since the fare is per car, not per person.

The value perspective

For Malaga city: the train is one of Europe's best airport transport deals, and it undercuts the EUR 18,24 airport taxi minimum several times over. Nothing else comes close.

For the western coast (Fuengirola to Marbella): taxis and transfers become the practical option. The coast bus is slow.

For Granada and Ronda: a private transfer or taxi is unavoidable, and these are genuinely expensive journeys — EUR 192 to Granada by taxi at the weekday rate. Get a fixed quote and compare it against the official guideline before you commit.

All of these tariffs are revised roughly once a year. Check the current ones before you travel.
