What drives the cost

Distance is the dominant factor across this wide catchment area. Torremolinos at 10 km is EUR 15-22 by taxi; Estepona at 80 km is EUR 80-100. The coast stretches far in both directions.

The AP-7 toll motorway runs parallel to the N-340 coast road. It is significantly faster, especially in summer when the N-340 through Torremolinos and Fuengirola is slow. The toll adds EUR 3-8 depending on distance. Taxis may or may not use it — confirm beforehand or accept it will be added.

Ronda involves a mountain road (A-367) with winding sections. The 100 km takes 80-95 minutes — longer than purely distance-based expectations.

Group size makes a significant difference on long routes. Four people splitting a EUR 70 Marbella taxi pay EUR 17.50 each, which is comparable to bus fares per person.

The value perspective

For Malaga city: the train at EUR 1.80 is one of Europe's best airport transport deals. Nothing else comes close.

For the western coast (Fuengirola to Marbella): taxis and transfers become the practical option. The coast bus is slow. For groups, a taxi or transfer per person is economical.

For Granada and Ronda: a private transfer or taxi is unavoidable. These are long journeys. Book in advance for a fixed price rather than a metered taxi for predictability.
