Las Vegas may not seem like a family destination, but millions of families travel through Harry Reid Airport every year. The airport-to-hotel transfer is short and straightforward, but there are a few things families should know.
The child seat situation
Nevada law requires an approved child restraint for young children, and it applies in all vehicles, including taxis and rideshares. The exact age and size thresholds are set in state law and are worth checking before you fly rather than taking a travel page's word for it. The practical reality is that taxis and rideshares do not carry child seats. You have three options:

Option 2 is the simplest. When booking a transfer, specify the child's age and weight so the correct seat type is provided.
The walk to rideshare pickup
The rideshare pickup at LAS is in the parking garage, not at the terminal curb. The walk from baggage claim is 5-10 minutes through hallways and elevators. With a stroller, tired children, and luggage, this is tedious. Taxis pick up curbside, which is much easier for families. A pre-booked transfer meeting you at baggage claim is the most convenient of all.
Best option for families
A pre-booked minivan transfer comfortably fits a family of 4-5 with all luggage, strollers, and car seats, and the price is fixed when you book. The driver meets you inside the terminal and handles everything. Split across a family of four it is usually competitive with individual rideshares, without the hassle — and unlike rideshare it will not surge on a convention weekend.
Desert heat warning
Las Vegas is in the Mojave Desert. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit). From June through September, minimize time outdoors with children. The walk to the rideshare garage is partially exposed. Bring water and keep children hydrated.
Family-friendly hotel tips
Some Strip hotels are better for families than others. Properties like Mandalay Bay (with a wave pool), Excalibur, and Circus Circus have family-oriented features. When booking your transfer, provide the hotel name so the driver can drop you at the closest entrance. Some mega-resorts have multiple entrances far apart.
Timing advice
Avoid Friday and Saturday evening arrivals if possible. The airport is at its busiest, taxi lines are longest, rideshare prices surge, and Strip traffic crawls. Midweek or morning arrivals make the family transfer experience significantly easier.
