Taxis here are metered and Indianapolis publishes no airport fare table, so the taxi column below would be guesswork - ask your driver for an estimate to your address instead. The private transfer prices are fixed when you book.

Event pricing warning

Indianapolis hosts major events that impact transport costs. During the Indy 500 (late May), NFL Combine (February-March), and Gen Con (August), rideshare surge pricing rises steeply on the same trip and taxi availability tightens. If you are visiting for a major event, book your transfer in advance at a fixed price.

The budget option in detail

IndyGo Route 8 (Washington Street) costs $2.75 per ride - IndyGo's standard one-trip fare since 1 January 2026, with a day pass capped at $6.00. It runs along Washington Street from the airport to downtown. The ride takes 35-45 minutes with stops. Buses run every 15-30 minutes during peak hours. The service is clean and safe but not designed for heavy luggage. Pay with exact change or load a MyKey card at the airport stop, and check indygo.net for the current fare before you travel.

One thing to know: a lot of older guides (and even the airport's own transport page) still describe a Green Line airport express at $1.75. That route was withdrawn in 2012 and the fare has changed twice since. Route 8 is the bus that serves IND now.
