Oaxaca Airport: Taxi or Pre-booked Transfer

Both options take you to your accommodation. The difference is how much you know before you travel.

Taxis

ASUR, the airport's operator, lists taxis in its land transport section and says the service is located in the ambulatory area of the airport. It publishes no fare table, no hours and no list of companies. So you should ask how the price is set, whether it is per vehicle or per person and what it covers, and agree the total before you go. Our route database estimates about 11 km to Oaxaca de Juarez and about 18 km to San Pablo Etla, so the price may differ a lot between destinations.

Pre-booked private transfer

A pre-booked transfer is arranged before you fly. The live price to Oaxaca de Juarez is from EUR 70, and it is confirmed at booking. Check your booking confirmation for the meeting point and for how flight delays are handled. If meet-and-greet is included in your booking, the driver meets you as stated there.

How to choose

Choose a taxi if: you travel light, arrive in daylight and are comfortable agreeing a price in advance.

Choose a pre-booked transfer if: you want the arrangement settled before you fly, you arrive late, you travel with children or many bags, you are a group, or you are going to a smaller town such as Tlalixtac de Cabrera or San Andres Huayapam. Request a child seat at booking and give the child's age and weight, because no official statement on child seats in airport taxis was found.

Car rental

The operator also lists car rental. It is a choice for those who plan to explore by themselves; check the terms before you book.

A note on checking

Before you leave the terminal with any driver, confirm that the person works for the company you booked or for the taxi service the operator describes. If something does not match what you agreed, say so before the trip starts, not after it. Keep your booking confirmation open on your phone while you do.
