Chișinău airport handles a number of flights that arrive late in the evening or after midnight. Budget airlines and connections through Istanbul or Bucharest frequently land between 22:00 and 01:00. If that is your situation, here is what you need to know.
What the airport is like after dark
The terminal stays open for arriving flights, but it empties out quickly once passengers clear baggage claim. There are no 24-hour restaurants or lounges. The duty-free and small shops close after the last departure. You will find restrooms and ATMs available, but not much else.

Outside the terminal, the area is quiet and not particularly well-lit. The parking lot has some lighting, but the roads leading away from the airport are dark. This is not dangerous per se, but it is not inviting either.
Transport options after 22:00
The trolleybus (route 30) does not run around the clock and stops well before the last flights land. It is not an option for late arrivals — check the current timetable at rtec.md if your flight is a borderline case.
Taxis may still be waiting outside, but there will be fewer of them. Late at night, the remaining drivers know they have less competition and may charge more. Negotiating at midnight when you are tired and it is dark is not a great experience.
Yandex Go works at night, but driver availability drops significantly. After 23:00, you might request a ride and wait 10-20 minutes for someone to accept. Sometimes longer. The app price itself does not surge dramatically, but the wait can be frustrating.
The practical recommendation
For late-night arrivals, a pre-booked transfer is the most reliable option. Your driver monitors your flight and will be there when you walk out, even if your flight is delayed. There is no waiting in a dark parking lot, no negotiation, and no uncertainty about whether a car will show up.
A transfer is priced per vehicle and fixed at booking, and Chișinău has no regulated night tariff to bolt onto it — so a late landing generally costs what a midday one does. Some providers add a small night supplement; if so it will be stated at booking, which is the point of booking.
If you must take a taxi at night
If you decide to take a taxi from the rank, agree the price firmly before entering the car. Check Yandex Go for a fare quote first so you know what the ride should cost — there is no meter or published tariff to fall back on, so the app quote is your only benchmark. Do not accept a ride if the driver will not name a price in advance. Keep your phone charged and share your location with someone if possible.

If your flight arrives very late (past midnight) and you are continuing to a destination outside Chișinău the next day, it may make sense to book a hotel near the airport for the night. There are a few options within a short drive. This avoids an unnecessary late-night transfer and lets you start fresh in the morning.
