Phnom Penh's commercial and international flights moved to the new Techo International Airport (KTI), south of the city in Kandal province, in September 2025. The older Phnom Penh International Airport (PNH), 10 km west of the centre, now handles domestic flights, private aviation and military use. They are on opposite sides of the city. Check the airport code on your ticket before you plan anything below.

Why there are no fares on this page
We have removed the fare tables that used to sit here. Cambodia changed airports in September 2025, published fare information for the route has not settled, and we could not verify current figures against the airport operator or a Cambodian authority. Anything we printed would be a guess wearing the clothes of a checked fact -- and this is a route where being confidently wrong could leave you arguing on a kerb at midnight.
The good news is that this is one of the easier places in the world to get a real price, because the apps quote before you commit.
Airport taxis
The official taxi counter inside the arrivals hall dispatches taxis. This is the simplest official option -- you arrange it at the counter, get a receipt, and are assigned a car. Ask the counter what the fare to your destination is before you take the car.
Tuk-tuk fares
Tuk-tuks are cheaper than a car. Fares are negotiated, not metered. Start by asking the price, then counter at about 60-70% of what the driver quotes. Most drivers settle somewhere in between -- and if you have an app quote on your phone for the same trip, you are negotiating from a real number rather than a hunch. Tuk-tuks are slower than cars (open to traffic, smaller, and drivers tend to use side roads), so factor in a longer trip time.
Ride-hailing apps: your best price check
Grab and PassApp both operate here, offering cars, tuk-tuks and motorbikes. App fares are calculated and shown before pickup, so you know exactly what you will pay -- no negotiation, no meter anxiety. There is free Wi-Fi in the terminal, so open both before you walk out. This is why many travelers, and many locals, prefer the apps, and it is the single most reliable way to learn today's real price for your exact trip.

Currency and payment
US dollars are the practical currency for transport in Cambodia. Taxis, tuk-tuks, and private transfers all accept USD. Grab and PassApp can be paid by cash (USD or Riel) or linked card. ATMs at the airport dispense US dollars. Small change may come back in Cambodian Riel -- check the day's rate rather than trusting a conversion printed in a guide.
What affects pricing
Traffic is the main variable for metered fares -- a clear run is quick, while rush hour can triple the time and add to the total. Negotiated and app fares are less affected since they are agreed upfront. Rain during monsoon season (May-October) can cause flooding on some roads and increase both travel time and prices.
