Destination: Plateau and Cocody are the most common and run at standard rates. Destinations in Abobo, Yopougon, or further suburbs cost more due to distance and traffic.
Time of day: Late-night arrivals (after 10 PM) cost more in a negotiated taxi — fewer drivers, less competition, and they know it. Pre-booked transfers may or may not have a night surcharge — check when booking.
Traffic: Abidjan traffic during rush hours is severe. A taxi ride that takes 30 minutes at midnight can take 90 minutes at 6 PM. For negotiated fares, longer rides sometimes mean higher quotes.
Luggage: Standard taxis handle 1-2 bags. More than that may require a larger vehicle, especially if you are in a compact sedan.
Tipping
