Getting from Wroclaw Airport with kids and family

Last updated: March 2026

Wroclaw Airport is small, modern, and easy to navigate — good news when you're traveling with children. The short distance to the city (10 km, about 20 minutes) means even cranky kids can survive the ride.

Child seat situation

Polish law requires child seats for children under 150 cm in height. This matters for your airport transfer:

  • Taxis at the rank: Do not carry child seats. Legally, taxis have an exemption, but it's not exactly safe. If you have a small child, this isn't ideal.
  • Bolt/Uber: Same issue — drivers rarely have child seats.
  • Pre-booked transfer: You can request a child seat (infant, toddler, or booster) when booking. Most companies provide them free of charge. This is your best option with small children.
  • Bring your own: If you're traveling with a portable car seat, any transport option works.

Stroller and luggage logistics

WRO's terminal is compact and wheelchair/stroller accessible. From gate to baggage claim to the taxi rank, you're looking at a flat, easy walk of about 5 minutes. No long terminal transfers, no shuttle trains.

For luggage: a sedan taxi fits 2 large suitcases + a stroller in the trunk. If you have more luggage (common with families), request a van/minivan when booking a transfer.

Best transport option for families

| Family size | Recommended | Why | |---|---|---| | 2 adults + 1 child | Pre-booked transfer with child seat | Safety + convenience | | 2 adults + 2-3 kids | Minivan transfer | Space for everyone + luggage | | 2 adults + baby | Transfer or taxi + own car seat | Baby capsule fits in any car | | Single parent + child | Transfer with child seat | One less thing to worry about |

The bus option — be realistic

Bus 106 to the city center is cheap (4.60 PLN per person, kids under 4 free), but navigating a city bus with luggage, a stroller, and tired children is not fun. The bus gets crowded during peak hours. Unless you're extremely budget-conscious and traveling very light, skip it.

Tips from parents who've done this

  • Book the transfer, not the taxi. The €5-8 premium over a taxi buys you a child seat and a driver who expects kids.
  • Request the child seat type specifically: infant (0-13 kg), toddler (9-18 kg), or booster (15-36 kg).
  • Bring snacks and a tablet for the ride. It's only 20 minutes, but kids are usually tired and hungry after a flight.
  • The airport has a small play area near gate C — useful if you need to kill time before your transfer arrives.
  • Changing facilities are available in all restrooms in the arrivals area.
