Getting from Skukuza Airport to your camp or lodge

Skukuza Airport (SZK) serves the Kruger National Park. The airport's own site says it is close to Skukuza main camp, the park's administrative headquarters, and the adjoining Sabi Sand conservancy. Our route data puts Skukuza Rest Camp about 4.7 km away (roughly 19 minutes) and the Sabi Sand lodge area about 27 km away (roughly 53 minutes); these figures are approximate. The airport's and park's pages do not describe a taxi rank, public bus or ride-hailing pickup, so we do not state that any of them exist. Plan the last leg in advance: a pre-booked transfer, transport arranged by your accommodation, or a rental car.

The airport site lists scheduled daily services from Johannesburg and Cape Town. At the time of checking, it showed arrivals from Johannesburg at 11:05 and 14:05 and from Cape Town at 12:55. The park authority's page lists different departure times for some of these flights, so confirm your flight time with the airline. The pages we checked do not describe the arrivals hall, baggage claim or immigration procedures, so we do not describe them here. If you have a pre-booked transfer, follow the meeting instructions in your booking confirmation.

Pre-booked transfer: If included in your booking, a driver meets you as described in your confirmation, and the price is fixed at booking. For a camp or lodge, give the exact camp or lodge name and any gate you must use.

Transport arranged by your accommodation: Your camp or lodge may arrange guest pick-ups. Ask your accommodation whether it does, and what it needs from you (flight number, group size, luggage).

Rental car: The park authority's page lists a car hire facility at Skukuza Rest Camp. We could not confirm from the sources we checked whether rental desks operate at the airport itself, so confirm the pick-up location with the rental company before you fly.

Taxi, bus and ride-hailing: The sources we checked do not describe a taxi rank, a public bus or a ride-hailing pickup at the airport. Do not assume one is waiting for you.

Access hours for the park and its gates are set by the park authority, so check them with the park authority before planning a late transfer.

Check your airline's baggage allowance before you pack, because the size of your luggage affects the vehicle you need.
