SEZ - Victoria

How Much Does It Cost to Get from SEZ Airport to Victoria and Mahe Beaches

Seychelles International Airport sits on the eastern coast of Mahe, with Victoria to the north and beach resorts spread across the island. Distances are short — Mahe is only 27 km long — but the mountainous terrain means winding roads and variable travel times.

Taxi fares from SEZ

Seychelles taxis use a government-published rate card rather than meters. Fares are set by destination zone, making pricing transparent. As of 2026, typical one-way fares from the airport:

  • Victoria: 400-500 SCR (25-35 USD)
  • Beau Vallon: 500-700 SCR (35-50 USD)
  • Anse Royale: 400-500 SCR (25-35 USD)
  • Baie Lazare: 600-800 SCR (40-55 USD)
  • Anse Intendance / Takamaka: 700-900 SCR (50-65 USD)
  • Port Launay area: 600-800 SCR (40-55 USD)
These are per vehicle, not per person. A couple and a family of four pay the same fare for the same destination. The rate card should be available at the taxi rank — ask to see it if the quoted price seems off.

Pre-booked private transfer prices

Private transfers are usually quoted in euros or US dollars:

  • Victoria: 35-50 USD
  • Beau Vallon: 45-65 USD
  • South Mahe beaches: 55-80 USD
  • Minivan (larger groups): 70-120 USD
The premium over a taxi is modest and buys guaranteed availability, a specific vehicle type, and no uncertainty. For travelers arriving on late flights when taxis are scarce, the guarantee alone is worth the difference.

Rental car costs for comparison

If you plan to rent a car for your Mahe stay, daily rates start around 45-65 USD for a compact car and 70-100 USD for an SUV. This makes sense for multi-day stays where you want to explore beaches and viewpoints independently. For a one-way airport transfer, renting is not cost-effective.

What affects the price

Destination is the primary factor. The airport is roughly central on the east coast, so northern destinations (Victoria, Beau Vallon) and southern destinations (Anse Intendance) are similar in distance but different in road difficulty. Southern routes involve steeper, narrower roads that take longer.

Time of day does not significantly affect taxi fares, though finding a taxi after 10 PM can be difficult. Pre-booked transfer prices are fixed regardless of arrival time.

Currency and payment

The Seychellois rupee (SCR) is the local currency. Euros and US dollars are widely accepted for tourist services. Taxis generally prefer rupees. If you pay in foreign currency, the exchange rate applied may not be in your favor.

ATMs at the airport dispense SCR. Credit cards are accepted by most transfer services for online prepayment. Taxis are usually cash-only.

Tipping is not expected in the Seychelles but is appreciated. Rounding up or adding 10% for a helpful driver is a reasonable gesture.
