Fort Lauderdale Airport to the City – What You Actually Need to Know

Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL) is only about 5 km from downtown Fort Lauderdale and sits conveniently between Fort Lauderdale and Hollywood, Florida. The ride to Fort Lauderdale Beach or downtown takes just 10–20 minutes in normal traffic.

Your options include a pre-booked private transfer (from USD 35–55 / EUR 32–50), a taxi (USD 20–35 / EUR 18–32), rideshare apps like Uber and Lyft (USD 15–30 / EUR 14–27), the Tri-Rail commuter train, or the Brightline intercity train to Miami or West Palm Beach. FLL also has excellent highway access if you are heading to Miami Beach (~45 min) or the cruise port.

FLL has four terminals. After clearing customs (for international arrivals in Terminal 4) or simply collecting your bags (domestic), you follow signs to ground transportation on the lower level of each terminal.

FLL taxi fares use a meter with a base rate and per-mile charge. Some zones have flat rates posted at the taxi stand. A typical metered ride to Fort Lauderdale Beach runs USD 20–30.

Uber and Lyft are generally 20–30% cheaper than taxis for the same trip, but surge pricing during peak hours (Friday evenings, holiday weekends, cruise ship days) can push prices above taxi rates.
