How Much Does It Cost to Get from Rotterdam Airport to the City?

Rotterdam The Hague Airport sits about 5 km from the city center, making the trip into town one of the shorter and cheaper airport transfers in the Netherlands. Here is what each option actually costs in 2026.

Private Transfer

A pre-booked sedan transfer for up to 3 passengers costs between EUR 35-55 to central Rotterdam. A minivan for larger groups (4-7 passengers) runs EUR 50-75. These prices are fixed at booking and include meet-and-greet in the arrivals hall, luggage handling, and flight monitoring. There are no hidden fees for delays or extra luggage in most cases, but always check the booking terms.

Taxi from the Rank

Metered taxis at the airport rank charge according to the national taxi tariff. A ride to Rotterdam city center typically costs EUR 25-40. The starting rate is around EUR 3, with approximately EUR 2.40 per kilometer. Late-night surcharges (between 00:00 and 06:00) can add roughly 10-15% to the fare. Taxis accept both cash and cards, though it is worth confirming card payment before getting in.

Uber and Bolt

Ride-hailing apps are a solid option from RTM. Expect to pay EUR 20-35 to the city center during normal hours. Prices fluctuate based on demand, but Rotterdam rarely sees the extreme surge pricing found in larger cities. The main advantage is price transparency — you see the fare estimate before confirming.

Bus 33 (RET Public Transport)

Bus 33 from the airport to Rotterdam Centraal station costs about EUR 4 per person using a contactless bank card or OV-chipkaart. If you already have an OV-chipkaart with credit, you simply tap on and off. The journey takes roughly 20 minutes. This is by far the cheapest option, but it is not ideal with heavy luggage or late at night.

Destinations Beyond Rotterdam

If you are heading to The Hague, Delft, or other nearby cities, costs rise accordingly. A transfer to The Hague runs EUR 55-80, to Delft EUR 45-65, and to Amsterdam EUR 120-170. For Amsterdam specifically, the public transport route via Rotterdam Centraal (bus plus train) costs around EUR 18 per person and takes about an hour total.

What Affects the Price

Several factors can shift the cost: time of day (late-night taxi surcharges), number of passengers (splitting a transfer is cheaper per person than individual bus tickets for groups of 3 or more), luggage volume (not usually a factor for transfers but relevant for buses), and destination distance. Traffic in Rotterdam is generally manageable, but the A20 motorway can slow down during evening rush hours, which affects metered taxi fares.
