How much does it cost to get from Rhodes Airport to your destination

Last updated: March 2026

Rhodes Airport serves visitors heading to destinations across the island, from Rhodes Town (14 km north) to resorts on the far south coast (65+ km away). Transport costs vary considerably depending on where you are going.

Cost by destination

| Destination | Distance | Approx. time | Taxi | Transfer | Bus | |---|---|---|---|---|---| | Rhodes Town | 14 km | 20 min | 22-30 EUR | 25-40 EUR | 2.50 EUR | | Ixia / Ialyssos | 10 km | 12 min | 18-25 EUR | 20-30 EUR | - | | Faliraki | 16 km | 20 min | 25-35 EUR | 28-38 EUR | ~3 EUR | | Kolymbia | 28 km | 30 min | 35-50 EUR | 35-50 EUR | ~5 EUR | | Lindos | 50 km | 55 min | 60-80 EUR | 45-70 EUR | ~6 EUR | | Pefkos | 55 km | 60 min | 65-85 EUR | 50-75 EUR | ~6 EUR | | Kiotari | 65 km | 70 min | 75-100 EUR | 60-85 EUR | - |

All prices are approximate. Taxi fares are metered and subject to time-of-day surcharges and seasonal variation. Transfer prices are fixed at the time of booking.

Rhodes Airport to Rhodes Town

Rhodes Town is the closest major destination from the airport — just 14 km. By taxi, the fare is regulated and usually lands between 22-30 EUR. The bus runs for 2.50 EUR to the main town bus station. A pre-booked transfer runs 25-40 EUR, though the price premium over a taxi is small for this short route.

For Rhodes Town, the bus is excellent value if your flight arrives before late evening and you are traveling light.

Rhodes Airport to Lindos

Lindos is the destination that catches people out on Rhodes. It looks manageable on a map, but 50 km on the coastal road — particularly the section through Kolymbia and around the bends toward Anthony Quinn Bay — takes a genuine 50-60 minutes. A metered taxi accumulates to 60-80 EUR during the day, more at night.

Pre-booked transfers to Lindos typically price at 45-70 EUR as a flat rate. For this journey, the transfer often costs the same or less than a taxi while offering the advantage of a fixed price known before you land.

The public bus to Lindos requires going into Rhodes Town first and catching an onward service. Total journey time is typically 1.5-2 hours and requires waiting at the town bus station. During summer, buses to Lindos are frequent, but luggage space is limited.

What affects the price

Distance is the dominant factor on Rhodes. Unlike compact city airports, the destinations here range from 10 km to 65+ km. A journey to Kiotari is more than six times the distance of a trip to Ixia.

Time of day. Taxis carry a night surcharge (tariff 2) between midnight and 05:00, typically adding 20-40% to the fare. Transfer prices are fixed at booking regardless of arrival time.

Season. In July and August, demand is highest and taxi availability sometimes limited. Pre-booked transfer prices can be slightly higher in peak season.

Vehicle type. Standard taxis are sedans. Larger vehicles (minivans for families or groups) cost more for both taxis and transfers, typically 20-40% more.

The bus: cheapest but limited

KTEL Rhodes operates buses from the airport to Rhodes Town for approximately 2.50 EUR. This is the cheapest option by a significant margin for that route.

For southern resorts, the bus requires a transfer in town, adds considerable travel time, and stops running in the evening. There are no direct airport buses to Lindos or beyond.

Transfers: particularly competitive for longer routes

On Rhodes, the math shifts in favour of transfers the further south you go. A metered taxi to Lindos accumulates 60-80 EUR. Transfer companies price the same route at 45-70 EUR as a flat rate because they set competitive fixed fares for popular routes. The further you are going, the more likely a transfer is to match or beat the taxi price — while also providing a guaranteed vehicle.

Currency and payment

Greece uses the euro. Airport ATMs are available in the arrivals hall. Most taxis at Rhodes Airport accept cards, but it is worth confirming before departure. The bus requires cash or card depending on the operator. Transfer payments are handled online at booking.

Tipping

Tipping is not mandatory in Greece. Rounding up is customary for taxis — a 2-3 EUR tip on a 25 EUR fare is appreciated. For pre-booked transfer drivers, a small tip is a kind gesture but not expected.

The bottom line

For Rhodes Town, the bus is exceptional value and a taxi is convenient. For Faliraki and Kolymbia, a taxi or transfer are comparable in cost. For Lindos and the south coast, a pre-booked transfer is usually the most practical and often the most economical option. The island's length makes transport choices matter more here than at most Greek destinations.
