JMK - Mykonos

How much does it cost to get from Mykonos Airport to your hotel

Last updated: February 2026

Mykonos is a small island. Every destination is within 15 km of the airport, and drives take 10-25 minutes. The cost of transport is modest. The real cost is the time you spend waiting for a taxi during peak season.

Cost by destination

| Destination | Distance | Taxi | Transfer | Bus | |---|---|---|---|---| | Mykonos Town (Chora) | 4 km | 15-25 EUR | 20-35 EUR | 2 EUR | | Ornos Beach | 3 km | 15-25 EUR | 20-35 EUR | N/A | | Tourlos (cruise port) | 3 km | 15-20 EUR | 20-30 EUR | N/A | | Psarou Beach | 5 km | 18-28 EUR | 25-38 EUR | N/A | | Platis Gialos | 6 km | 20-30 EUR | 25-40 EUR | N/A | | Paradise Beach | 7 km | 25-35 EUR | 30-45 EUR | N/A | | Super Paradise | 8 km | 28-38 EUR | 32-48 EUR | N/A | | Ano Mera | 7 km | 20-30 EUR | 25-40 EUR | N/A | | Elia Beach | 10 km | 30-40 EUR | 35-50 EUR | N/A | | Kalafatis Beach | 12 km | 35-45 EUR | 40-55 EUR | N/A |

All prices approximate. Peak season (July-August) may push fares toward the higher end.

Why the cost is not the real issue

Look at the taxi prices above. Even the most expensive trip on the island is under 45 EUR. For a holiday on one of the world's most expensive islands (where a beach sunbed can cost 50+ EUR), transport is not where your money goes.

The real cost of taking a taxi from Mykonos Airport is time. During July and August, the wait at the taxi stand can be 20-60 minutes. If you value your time at all, the 5-15 EUR premium for a pre-booked transfer is insignificant.

The bus: 2 EUR to town

A bus runs between the airport and Mykonos Town (Fabrika station) for about 2 EUR. It is the cheapest option by far. The bus works if:

  • You are heading to Mykonos Town specifically
  • You travel light (there is no luggage compartment)
  • The schedule aligns with your arrival
  • You can manage the walk from Fabrika station to your accommodation
The bus does not serve beach areas directly. From Fabrika, you would need another bus or taxi to reach beaches, which adds cost and complication.

Transfer pricing: what you are paying for

Transfer prices on Mykonos are 5-15 EUR more than taxi fares for the same routes. That premium buys:

  • Guaranteed availability (no waiting)
  • A driver at the airport when you land
  • A specific vehicle (sedan or minivan)
  • Child seat if requested
  • Fixed price regardless of time or demand
During peak season, this premium is the best-value spending decision you will make on Mykonos.

Off-season pricing

From October to May, the taxi shortage disappears. Cabs are readily available at the airport, fares are at the lower end of the ranges, and there is no compelling reason to pre-book unless you want the certainty.

Payment

Greece uses the euro. Most Mykonos taxis accept cards, but having some cash is wise as a backup. Transfer payments are usually handled at booking.

Tipping

Tipping is not expected in Greek taxis. Rounding up by a euro or two is common courtesy. For transfer drivers, a small tip is a welcome gesture but not required.

The bottom line on cost

Mykonos airport transport is affordable. The bus is a bargain at 2 EUR for town-bound travelers. Taxis are reasonable for an expensive island. Transfers carry a small premium that buys significant convenience during peak season. On an island where everything costs more than you expect, the airport transfer is one of the more reasonably priced expenses.
