Taxi availability at night
The official taxi counter operates 24 hours. Even at 02:00, you can buy a voucher and get a taxi. You might wait 5-10 minutes for a vehicle at very late hours.
Check the posted fare when you buy, and ask whether a night rate applies. The pre-paid system is zone-based rather than metered, but GDL does not publish a clear public statement on night pricing — so confirm at the counter rather than assuming it is the same as the daytime fare.
Uber and DiDi at night
Both apps work but with longer wait times of 8-15 minutes after midnight. Surge pricing is uncommon at night since demand is low, and the app quotes you before you confirm. The departure-level pickup still applies, even at 02:00.
One advantage of rideshare at night: the app provides a digital record of your trip including the driver's name, plate, and route — useful peace of mind in an unfamiliar city.
