Guadalajara Airport receives flights well into the night, including connections from US cities and delayed domestics. Here is what to expect when you land after dark.
Airport hours and late flights
GDL operates around the clock. Scheduled arrivals continue until after midnight. The terminal stays open and staffed 24/7, though shops and restaurants close by 23:00. Between 01:00 and 05:00, the terminal is very quiet.
Taxi availability at night
The official taxi counter operates 24 hours. Even at 02:00, you can buy a voucher and get a taxi. You might wait 5-10 minutes for a vehicle at very late hours. Fares are the same fixed zone prices day and night — no night surcharge.
| Destination | Night taxi fare (MXN / EUR) | Drive time (no traffic) | |-------------|---------------------------|------------------------| | Centro Historico | MXN 350-450 (~EUR 18-23) | 20-25 min | | Zapopan | MXN 400-500 (~EUR 21-26) | 25-30 min | | Tlaquepaque | MXN 200-300 (~EUR 10-15) | 12-18 min |
Uber and DiDi at night
Both apps work but with longer wait times of 8-15 minutes after midnight. Surge pricing is uncommon at night since demand is low. The departure-level pickup still applies, even at 02:00.
One advantage of rideshare at night: the app provides a digital record of your trip including the driver's name, plate, and route — useful peace of mind in an unfamiliar city.
Pre-booked transfers at night
The most reliable late-night option. The driver tracks your flight, adjusts for delays, and waits at arrivals regardless of the hour. No searching for the taxi counter, no walking upstairs for Uber. Most transfer services charge the same rate day and night.
Safety considerations
Guadalajara is a large city and standard urban precautions apply at night:
- Never accept rides from unofficial drivers inside the terminal
- The airport-to-city highway (Carretera a Chapala) is well-lit and busy even at night
- Once in the city, main routes remain active
- If your hotel is in a less central area, a pre-booked transfer that drops you at the door is preferable to navigating on foot after a late drop-off
