Family Airport Transfer from Guadalajara Airport (GDL)

Last updated: March 2026

Guadalajara's airport handles millions of passengers a year and is well-equipped for families. But Mexico's transport norms around child safety are different from what North American and European parents expect.

Child seats — plan ahead

This is the most important thing for families: neither airport taxis nor Uber in Mexico provide child car seats. This is standard across the country. Mexican law is inconsistent on child restraint requirements in taxis.

Your options:

  • Bring your own car seat and install it in the taxi or Uber. Drivers will accommodate.
  • Book a private transfer with a child seat included. Specify your child's age and weight at booking.
  • Rent a car and add a child seat from the rental agency (about MXN 50-100/day).
For families with infants or toddlers, a pre-booked transfer with a provided car seat is the safest and simplest option.

Navigating the airport with kids

Both terminals have elevators, ramps, and accessible restrooms. Luggage trolleys are available in baggage claim. The arrivals hall can be crowded during peak afternoon hours when multiple international flights land together.

At Terminal 2 (most international flights), the walk from gate through immigration to exit is roughly 15-20 minutes at a family pace, plus queue time.

Luggage and strollers

Standard taxi sedans fit 2-3 large suitcases. A family with strollers, car seats, and multiple bags should request a Suburban or minivan at the taxi counter — expect MXN 500-650 (~EUR 26-34) to centro. Pre-booked minivans cost EUR 35-60 with all luggage included.

Best option for families

A pre-booked minivan transfer with child seats is the recommended choice. The driver meets you at arrivals, helps with luggage, and child restraints are installed. For a family of four to centro or Zapopan, expect EUR 35-55.

Avoid the public bus with children and heavy luggage — Ruta 706 is crowded, makes many stops, and requires a connection.

Traffic timing tip

If possible, arrive outside rush hours. A family crammed into a vehicle for 60-75 minutes in traffic is much harder than a smooth 25-minute ride. Midday arrivals (11:00-15:00) and late evening tend to have the lightest traffic.
