Late night arrivals at Bahrain International Airport

Last updated: March 2026

Bahrain Airport is a hub for Gulf carriers, and many flights arrive late at night or in the early morning hours. If you are landing between 11 PM and 5 AM, here is what to expect.

What is open after midnight

The terminal stays open around the clock. Immigration and customs operate for all arriving flights regardless of the hour. The arrivals hall has seating areas, and a few food outlets may still be open in the landside area, though selection is limited overnight. Currency exchange counters may close after midnight, so having some Bahraini Dinars or a card that works internationally is sensible.

Transport options at night

| Option | Available after midnight | Price to Manama | |---|---|---| | Airport taxi | Yes, 24 hours | BHD 5-8 (EUR 12-20) | | Pre-booked transfer | Yes, if booked | BHD 8-15 (EUR 20-37) | | Uber / Careem | Yes, may take longer | BHD 3-7 (EUR 7-17) | | Public bus | No | N/A |

The airport taxi counter operates 24 hours. There are usually taxis waiting even in the small hours, though you may wait 5-10 minutes longer than during the day. Prices do not increase at night when using the fixed-fare system.

Ride-hailing apps work overnight but driver availability drops. Wait times of 10-15 minutes are common after midnight. Surge pricing may apply on some nights, particularly Thursday nights (the start of the weekend in Bahrain).

Public buses stop running in the evening and do not resume until morning. Do not plan on using the bus for a late arrival.

Pre-booked transfer advantage

The main benefit of a pre-booked transfer for late arrivals is guaranteed availability. Your driver monitors your flight and is waiting when you walk out, regardless of how late you land. There is no app to fumble with, no waiting at a rank, and no uncertainty. For travellers arriving exhausted after a long journey, this peace of mind has real value.

Safety at night

Bahrain is a safe country and the airport area is secure. The road to Manama is a well-lit highway. There are no particular safety concerns about travelling late at night. Stick to official taxis from the counter or pre-booked transfers, and avoid accepting rides from anyone approaching you inside the terminal.

If your flight is very late

If you land after 2 AM and do not want to travel, the terminal has seating but no dedicated sleeping facilities. Several airport-area hotels are within 5 minutes by taxi. Alternatively, most Manama hotels are only 15 minutes away, so getting to your room quickly is straightforward even at unusual hours.
