Taxi vs pre-booked transfer from Antalya Airport

Last updated: February 2026

At Antalya Airport, the taxi vs transfer question depends almost entirely on where you are going. For Antalya city centre, either works. For resort towns along the coast, the calculation shifts strongly toward transfers.

Taxis from Antalya Airport

Taxis queue at the rank outside both terminals. For short trips to Antalya centre or Lara Beach, the meter runs and fares are reasonable (TRY 600-900 to the centre). The ride is short and straightforward.

For longer trips, things get complicated. Metered fares to Belek, Side, or especially Alanya become very expensive. Many drivers will suggest a negotiated fixed price instead of the meter. The quality of the deal you get depends on your negotiation skills and whether you speak Turkish.

Common issues with taxis for longer trips:

  • Drivers may not want to drive to distant resorts (Alanya is 2 hours each way, and they return empty).
  • Quoted prices to tourists are often inflated. A fair price to Belek might be TRY 1,200, but you could be quoted TRY 2,000.
  • No child seats available.
  • The vehicle may not be air-conditioned or comfortable for a long ride.

Pre-booked transfers

A pre-booked transfer has a fixed price agreed before you travel. The driver meets you in arrivals and takes you directly to your hotel. For resort destinations, this is the standard approach and used by the majority of independent travellers (package holiday tourists usually have transfers included).

Advantages for the Antalya context:

  • Fixed pricing in USD or EUR, insulating you from lira fluctuations.
  • Driver assigned to your specific flight.
  • Vehicle appropriate for the journey length and your group size.
  • Child seats available on request.
  • No negotiation at 1 AM after a long flight.

Cost comparison by destination

| Destination | Taxi (approx) | Transfer | |------------|---------------|----------| | Antalya centre | TRY 600-900 | USD 20-30 | | Lara Beach | TRY 400-700 | USD 15-25 | | Belek | TRY 1,000-1,500 | USD 30-45 | | Kemer | TRY 1,500-2,500 | USD 40-60 | | Side | TRY 2,000-3,000 | USD 50-70 | | Alanya | TRY 3,000-5,000 | USD 80-120 |

Note: Taxi prices in lira fluctuate with exchange rates and negotiation. Transfer prices in USD are more stable.

When a taxi makes sense

Antalya city centre or Lara Beach: The trip is short, the fare is low, and the meter keeps things honest. A taxi is simple and quick.

You speak Turkish: Negotiating a fair price becomes easier, and you can communicate preferences about route and stops.

When a transfer makes sense

Any resort town 30+ km away: The longer the trip, the more a pre-booked transfer makes sense. The price gap between a fair taxi fare and a transfer narrows, while the comfort and certainty advantages grow.

Late arrivals: Finding a taxi willing to drive to Alanya at 2 AM and agreeing on a fair price is not how you want to start your holiday.

Families: Child seats, luggage space, and a guaranteed vehicle type matter more for a 90-minute drive than a 15-minute one.

Groups: Minivan transfers for 5-8 people are often cheaper than two separate taxis and keep the group together.

One important note

Be cautious of people approaching you inside the terminal offering taxi or transfer services. Some are legitimate tour operators, but others are unlicensed drivers charging whatever they can. Use the official taxi rank or your pre-booked transfer.
