ADB - Izmir

How much it costs to get from Izmir Airport to your destination

Last updated: March 2026

ADB serves both Izmir city and a wide region of western Turkey. Costs vary dramatically depending on whether you are heading into the city or to one of the coastal or historical destinations further afield.

Izban train to Izmir centre: TRY 15-25 (EUR 0.50-0.80)

The most remarkable transport deal at ADB. The Izban commuter rail connects the airport directly to central Izmir (Alsancak station) in about 25-30 minutes. Trains run frequently — roughly every 15-20 minutes during peak hours. The station is inside the terminal complex. This is by far the cheapest and one of the fastest ways to reach Izmir centre, and is genuinely recommended for light travellers heading into the city.

The train does not help if you are going to Çeşme, Alaçatı, Kuşadası, or other coastal resorts — those require road transport from the airport.

Havas bus to Izmir: TRY 60-80 (EUR 2-3)

The Havas shuttle runs from ADB to central Izmir. Slower than the train (roughly 45-60 minutes depending on traffic) but more practical if you have heavy luggage and the train carriages feel crowded. Drops at the Havas terminal in the city centre.

Taxi prices (approximate)

| Destination | Distance | Taxi fare (approx) | |------------|----------|--------------------| | Izmir centre (Konak) | 18 km | TRY 250-400 | | Izmir Alsancak | 18 km | TRY 250-380 | | Izmir Bornova | 28 km | TRY 350-500 | | Selçuk / Ephesus | 65 km | TRY 650-1,000 | | Alaçatı | 80 km | TRY 700-1,000 | | Çeşme | 85 km | TRY 700-1,100 | | Kuşadası | 95 km | TRY 700-1,000 | | Bodrum | 220 km | TRY 1,800-2,800 |

For trips beyond Izmir, taxi drivers typically negotiate a fixed price rather than using the meter. Prices above reflect real market ranges — lower end for a good negotiation, higher end for a tourist who doesn't know the market.

Pre-booked transfer prices

| Destination | Sedan (1-3 pax) | Minivan (4-6 pax) | |------------|-----------------|-------------------| | Izmir centre | EUR 15-30 | EUR 22-38 | | Selçuk / Ephesus | EUR 40-60 | EUR 55-75 | | Alaçatı | EUR 45-65 | EUR 58-80 | | Çeşme | EUR 45-70 | EUR 60-85 | | Kuşadası | EUR 50-75 | EUR 65-90 | | Pamukkale | EUR 90-130 | EUR 110-155 |

Transfer prices are quoted in EUR. They include airport pickup, flight tracking, and direct service to your accommodation.

What affects the price

Distance is the biggest factor. The jump from Izmir centre (18 km) to Çeşme (85 km) is nearly fivefold in distance and reflects in pricing.

Train availability changes the value equation for Izmir centre. The EUR 0.50-0.80 train makes any competing option look expensive for that specific destination. For all other destinations, road transport is the only practical option.

Traffic affects taxis and transfers on the road between the airport and Izmir, particularly during morning and evening rush hours. The Çeşme motorway is generally fast and clear.

Season matters more for Çeşme and Alaçatı, which are extremely popular Turkish summer destinations. July-August sees peak demand and prices nudge higher. Shoulder season (May-June, September) is marginally cheaper.

Currency fluctuation means lira taxi prices change over time. EUR-denominated transfer prices are more stable.

The value calculation

For Izmir centre: The Izban train at TRY 15-25 is the clear answer for solo travellers and couples with manageable luggage. For a family with four suitcases, a taxi or transfer at EUR 15-30 is worth the convenience.

For Selçuk / Ephesus (65 km): A direct transfer at EUR 40-60 saves time compared to going into Izmir and then doubling back south. The train from Izmir to Selçuk is possible (Izban continues), but involves a city connection and is slow for travellers with luggage.

For Çeşme or Alaçatı (80-85 km): There is no practical public transport from ADB directly. A transfer at EUR 45-70 or a negotiated taxi are the options. The Çeşme motorway makes the drive smooth — roughly 70 minutes.

For Kuşadası (95 km): Similar logic to Çeşme. Direct transfer is the practical standard. EUR 50-75 for a private vehicle.

Tipping

Tipping is appreciated in Turkey. For transfer drivers, 10% or rounding up is generous. For taxi drivers, rounding up to the nearest convenient amount is standard.
