Salt Lake City International Airport is 11 km from downtown, and you have more transport options here than at most US airports. Only two of them have a published, fixed price — TRAX and taxi zone minimums. Everything else is demand-based or provider-set, so check a live quote before you travel.
TRAX light rail: the budget option
The TRAX Green Line runs from the airport to downtown for $2.50 per person (UTA fare, 2026). The ride takes about 25 minutes. Trains run every 15-20 minutes during the day. This is the cheapest way to reach any hotel within walking distance of a TRAX station in downtown Salt Lake City.
The limitation is coverage. TRAX serves downtown and the university area well but does not reach Park City, the ski canyons, or suburban hotels. If your final destination is off the rail line, you will need a second ride.
Rideshare (Uber/Lyft)

As a rule of thumb: downtown trips are short and generally the cheapest rideshare option after TRAX; trips to Park City, Deer Valley, Snowbird, Alta, Brighton, Solitude, or Provo cover real mountain distance and cost accordingly. Pricing swings with time of day, day of week, and season — a Friday evening ride to Park City in ski season can cost several times the Tuesday afternoon fare. Check the app estimate rather than assuming a fixed figure.
Taxis
Yellow Cab of Utah, the airport's taxi provider, applies a $25 minimum fare for the airport zone and posts flat rates of $27-35 to specific downtown hotels (Yellow Cab Utah rate chart, 2026), plus tip. Taxis do not surge price, which makes them the more predictable option when rideshare fares spike. Few drivers take the longer trip to Park City; if you find one, agree the fare before you get in — there is no published rate for that distance.
Pre-booked private transfers
Prices vary by provider and vehicle size, for both downtown and ski-resort routes. The key advantage is a price fixed at booking. During ski season, when rideshare can surge to several times its off-peak rate, a pre-booked transfer with a confirmed price can be the cheaper option to Park City or the canyons — compare the quote against the live rideshare estimate before you decide.
Ski resort shuttles
Shared shuttle services to Park City and the Cottonwood Canyon resorts run during ski season, priced per person and set by each operator — check the current fare on their site before booking. For solo travelers, this can undercut a private transfer. For couples or groups, the per-person math often favors a private vehicle instead.
The seasonal factor
SLC transport costs have two modes: summer and ski season. In summer, everything is cheaper and more available. During ski season (December through March), demand for Park City and canyon transport drives up rideshare prices and fills shuttle seats. Plan accordingly — if you are visiting during ski season, book ground transport in advance rather than hoping for a reasonable Uber fare.
