MAX Light Rail
The Red Line from PDX to downtown costs $2.80 for a 2.5-hour adult ticket (TriMet). You buy tickets from machines on the platform before boarding. TriMet caps daily spending at $5.60, so a second trip the same day is the most you will pay before the rest of the day rides free. Rideshare fares
Uber and Lyft pricing is dynamic: the app quotes your fare before you confirm, and that quote is the only number worth planning around. Surge pricing during rush hours, late nights on weekends, and holiday periods pushes fares well above the off-peak level. Early afternoon on a weekday is usually the cheapest window. Pickup is from the designated area in the parking garage, not curbside.
