Charter flights to Sharm often land between 11 PM and 3 AM. The airport handles this regularly, but a few things change at night.

What's available after midnight

The late-night taxi reality

There are always taxis at SSH, even at 3 AM — the drivers know the charter flight schedules. However, late-night dynamics shift:

• Fewer taxis means less competition — drivers know you have fewer options
• Price demands go up — expect a noticeable premium over what the same ride costs during the day
• Negotiation is harder when you're tired and it's dark
• Drivers are more persistent because there's less tourist traffic

Why pre-booking matters at night

The visa desk and passport control operate 24/7 at SSH. However, late at night with only 1-2 flights arriving, the process is actually faster — sometimes just 10-15 minutes vs. 30-60 during peak daytime.

Hotel check-in

Most Sharm resorts expect late arrivals and have 24-hour reception. However:

• Call your hotel the day before to confirm your late arrival
• Some all-inclusive properties stop serving dinner by 10 PM — eat before you fly or grab something at the airport
• Your room should be ready (especially if you booked from the previous night)

Safety at night

Sharm El Sheikh is a tourist town and the route from airport to all resort areas is straightforward and safe. The road is a single main highway with good lighting. There's regular police presence on the road.

The airport itself has security personnel around the clock. Don't worry about safety — worry about overpaying for your taxi.

If your flight is severely delayed

SSH doesn't have sleeping pods or a transit hotel. The terminal seating is basic. Your best option if you arrive extremely late and can't reach your hotel:

• Take the taxi/transfer to your hotel (they'll let you in at any hour)
• If your hotel booking starts the next day, ask reception — most will accommodate early check-in for late-night arrivals at no extra charge
