Vnukovo Airport Transfers: What You Actually Need to Know

View on airport map

Last updated: October 2026

Quick answer

Vnukovo International Airport (VKO) is one of the airports of Moscow, and its operator's "Airport directions" pages list the metro, an express train from Kievskiy Railway Station, several buses, a night bus and taxis. The metro station "Vnukovo Airport" opened in September 2023 on the Solntsevskaya line, and the operator describes it as the first airport in Russia reached by metro. An underground passage leads from the station to Terminal A.

If you want a fixed timetable and your destination is on a metro or rail line, the public options are real. If you land very late, arrive with heavy bags, or want to go straight to an address, a taxi or a pre-booked private transfer is the usual alternative. Our route database estimates about 29 km and 44 minutes by road to central Moscow, which is only an estimate. Use the quote tool on this page for your destination.

What actually happens after landing

The operator's pages we read do not describe the arrivals procedure, baggage reclaim or waiting times, so we do not describe them.

What they do say about Terminal A is that the underground passage connects it with the metro station and the express train platform, and that the passage entrance to the terminal building is closed from 01:30 to 05:30. The departures floor of Terminal A (check-in and gates) is on the 2nd floor. Stopping briefly in front of the terminal or on the viaduct is prohibited: there are automatic cameras, fines and towing. Keep your booking confirmation and your accommodation address on your phone.

Transport options explained honestly

Metro: The "Vnukovo Airport" station on the Solntsevskaya line opened in September 2023, with an underground passage to Terminal A. The other nearby station is Salaryevo, on the Sokolnicheskaya line. From Salaryevo, bus 911 takes 18-20 minutes, with a service every 10-15 minutes according to the metro page.

Express train from Kievskiy Railway Station: about 35-40 minutes, once an hour. Trains to the airport run from 07:00 to 23:00, and trains back to Kievskiy run from 06:15 to 23:15. The fare follows the suburban rail operator's tariff, and the page gives no figure, so we give none. The platform has an underground passage to Terminal A.

Buses (times from the operator's bus page):

  • 911, from Salarievo metro: 18-20 minutes, about every 7 minutes, 05:11-02:01.
  • 911k, from Salarievo: about every 15 minutes, 05:33-00:48.
  • 272, from Filatov Lug metro: 16-20 minutes, about every 10 minutes, 05:02-00:30. It stops at "Park Alleya Slavy", about 500 m from Terminal A.
  • 579, from Rasskazovka: 25-30 minutes, about every 20 minutes, 06:00-00:57.
  • N11 night bus, from Kitay-Gorod: see the late-night section.

The bus page refers to a separate page for fares and tickets and gives no figures, so we give no bus fares.

Taxi: see the next section.

Pre-booked private transfer: The price is confirmed when you book, and the driver goes to the address you give. If meet-and-greet is included in your booking, the driver meets you as stated in your booking confirmation.

Realistic pricing expectations

The operator's taxi page says a taxi is available at any time from anywhere in Moscow and the region, and that the fare depends on the service, the distance, the time of day and demand. It publishes no official taxi tariff, so we cannot give a regulated fare.

For the metro, the train and the buses, the operator's pages give no ticket prices, so we give none either. Check the transport operators' own pages for current fares.

Our route database estimates about 29 km and 44 minutes by road from the airport to central Moscow. Treat this as an estimate, because the real time depends on traffic. The live price to Moscow City Center is from EUR 103. For other places, use the quote tool on this page.

Late night arrivals

Late arrivals have more choice here than at most airports. The N11 night bus runs between Kitay-Gorod and the airport at about 30-minute intervals. From the airport to the centre it runs from 23:30 to 04:30, and from the centre to the airport from 01:00 to 06:00. Bus 911 runs from 05:11 to 02:01, and taxis are available at any time.

The entrance to Terminal A from the underground passage is closed from 01:30 to 05:30, so if you rely on the metro or train passage at night, check how you will reach the building. A pre-booked transfer is confirmed before you fly. See the late-night page for more.

Families and luggage

The operator's pages we read give no statement on family help, luggage services, strollers or child seats. The site has a section called "Passengers with Children", but we did not read its content, so we do not describe it. If you need a child seat, request it when you book a private transfer, give the child's age and weight, and confirm it in your booking confirmation. Do not assume a taxi has one.

With several bags or a stroller, note that the metro and train routes use an underground passage to Terminal A. Tell your transfer provider the group size and bag count when you book.

Where you meet the driver

For the metro, train and buses, follow the airport signs and ask airport staff if unsure. The bus page says the 272 stop "Park Alleya Slavy" is about 500 m from Terminal A. For a pre-booked private transfer, the meeting point and driver details are in your booking confirmation, because stopping in front of the terminal or on the viaduct is prohibited (cameras, fines, towing). If meet-and-greet is included in your booking, follow the instructions there. If you cannot find your driver, contact the number in your confirmation.

Decision helper

Choose the metro if: your destination is near a metro line, you travel light, and you land between the first and last trains (the operator's metro page gives no hours in the text we read, so check them).

Choose the express train if: you are going to Kievskiy Railway Station and land between 07:00 and 23:00.

Choose a bus if: you want a timetable. The N11 covers the night.

Choose a taxi or pre-booked transfer if: you want to go straight to an address, you land very late, or you travel in a group or with children.
