Ordu-Giresun Airport Transfers for Families with Children

Ordu-Giresun is one of the easiest airports in Turkey for families. It is small, modern, and there are no long walks or confusing connections. Here is what to know about the ground transport.

The Airport Experience

The single terminal is compact and well-maintained. From the aircraft to the arrivals exit, you are looking at 10-15 minutes including baggage claim. There are no shuttle trains between terminals or long corridors. With a stroller and bags, you can manage the entire airport on foot without difficulty. Elevators and ramps are available throughout.

Best Transport for Families

A private transfer is the most practical choice for families arriving here. The driver waits at the small arrivals area, helps with your luggage, and drives you straight to your accommodation. Child seats can be requested when booking. Given that the airport is on an artificial island with limited transport options, having a guaranteed ride removes the main uncertainty.

The Havas bus is fine for families with older children who can manage their own bags. The bus is comfortable and air-conditioned. However, it drops you at a central point in Ordu or Giresun, not at your door. With young children and heavy bags, you would then need a city taxi for the last leg.

Child Seats

Turkish law requires children under 3 to use an appropriate child restraint in private vehicles, and children aged 3-10 must sit in the back seat. Enforcement outside major cities is inconsistent, but safety should not depend on enforcement. Private transfer companies will provide child seats on request — specify the child's age and weight when booking. Taxis in Turkey almost never have child seats. If traveling with a baby or toddler, either book a transfer with a seat or bring a portable car seat.

Luggage Space

Families visiting the Black Sea coast tend to pack for varied weather — the region can shift from sunshine to rain quickly. A standard sedan handles 2-3 large suitcases. If you have 4+ bags plus a stroller and beach gear, request a minivan. Be specific about luggage count when booking so the right vehicle is assigned.

Where You Are Going Matters

If your accommodation is in Ordu or Giresun city center, any transport option works. If you are headed to a resort, village, or rental along the coast, a private transfer is essential. Places like Persembe, Boztepe, or the hazelnut coast villages are not served by the Havas bus, and finding a taxi to take you there from the airport can be hit-or-miss.

Practical Family Tips

The Black Sea region is family-friendly and welcoming. Locals are warm and helpful, especially with children. Restaurant portions are generous and kids are always welcome. If you are arriving in summer, the humidity can be high — have light clothing and water ready for the car ride. The coastal road between Ordu and Giresun offers beautiful scenery, so sit back and enjoy the view.
