FRU - Bishkek

How much does it cost to get from Manas Airport to Bishkek?

Kyrgyzstan is one of the most affordable destinations in Central Asia, and getting from the airport to the city reflects that. Here is what each option costs in 2026.

Yandex Go (ride-hailing app)

The most transparent pricing. A ride from Manas to central Bishkek (Ala-Too Square area) typically costs 600 to 1,000 KGS ($7 to $12 USD). The fare is shown before you confirm, so there are no surprises. Surge pricing can apply during peak times, but airport rides are usually stable. You need a local SIM or WiFi to use the app.

Negotiated taxi

Drivers outside the terminal will quote 1,000 to 2,000 KGS for the ride to the center. A fair price is 800 to 1,500 KGS ($9 to $17 USD). If you speak Russian, you will land closer to the lower end. If you clearly look like a tourist and do not counter-offer, you will pay more. This is normal — it is not a scam, just the informal pricing system.

To destinations beyond central Bishkek:

  • Osh Bazaar area: 700 to 1,200 KGS
  • South of the city (microdistricts): 900 to 1,500 KGS
  • Ala-Archa National Park entrance: 2,000 to 3,000 KGS ($23 to $35)

Pre-booked private transfer

  • Sedan to Bishkek center: $20 to $40 USD
  • SUV or minivan: $35 to $60 USD
  • To Issyk-Kul (Cholpon-Ata): $80 to $130 USD
  • To Issyk-Kul (Karakol): $120 to $180 USD
  • To Ala-Archa: $40 to $60 USD
Transfer prices are fixed and paid in advance or upon arrival. The premium over a taxi covers the meet-and-greet, flight tracking, and guaranteed availability.

Marshrutka

The cheapest option: 60 to 100 KGS (under $1.50 USD). The marshrutka goes to the western bus station (Zapadny Avtovokzal), from which you would need another ride to your actual destination. It is very cheap but impractical unless you travel ultra-light and know the city.

Currency tips

The Kyrgyz som (KGS) is the only practical currency for taxis and local transport. ATMs at the airport dispense som. Exchange booths in arrivals offer reasonable rates. As of early 2026, 1 USD equals roughly 87 to 90 KGS.

Pre-booked transfers are often priced in USD and can be paid by card online. This avoids the currency question entirely.

Is tipping expected?

Not really. Tipping taxi drivers is not a strong custom in Kyrgyzstan. Rounding up the fare (e.g., paying 1,000 for an 850 KGS ride) is appreciated but not expected. For a pre-booked transfer, tipping $2 to $5 is a generous gesture.
