Domodedovo operates around the clock, but your transport options change significantly after midnight. Here is what you need to know.
Aeroexpress schedule gap
The Aeroexpress train — normally the best option from DME — has a nightly gap. The last departure is around 00:30 and the first morning train leaves at 06:00. If you land between these times and cannot make the last train after clearing immigration and baggage, the Aeroexpress is not available. This is the single most important fact for late-night arrivals at DME.
Late-night taxi options
Yandex Go operates 24 hours and remains the go-to option. Late-night rides actually have an advantage: Moscow traffic effectively disappears after 23:00, cutting the journey to central Moscow to as little as 40–50 minutes. Prices may even be lower than daytime due to reduced demand — expect 2,000–3,000 RUB (20–30 EUR) to the center.
The pickup process is the same as during the day. Order through the app and proceed to the taxi zone outside the terminal.
Pre-booked transfers at night
A private transfer is especially valuable for late-night arrivals when combined with flight monitoring. The transfer company tracks your flight and adjusts pickup time for delays. Your driver waits at arrivals regardless of what time you actually emerge — no surge pricing, no searching for the pickup zone in the dark, no worrying about app functionality.
Prices for late-night private transfers are the same as daytime: 40–60 EUR to central Moscow.
What is open in the terminal
DME keeps essential services running through the night:
- ATMs are available 24 hours.
- Currency exchange — some counters close, but at least one typically operates overnight.
- Cafes and shops — most close by midnight, but vending machines are available.
- Wi-Fi remains active around the clock.
- SIM card vendors close in the evening. If you need a Russian SIM for Yandex Go, buy it at your departure airport or arrange a transfer in advance.
Practical tips
- If your flight lands at 23:00–00:00, rush through immigration to catch the last Aeroexpress. It is worth the effort — saves both time and money.
- Have a backup plan. If you are counting on the Aeroexpress but your flight is delayed, know that Yandex Go or a pre-booked transfer can get you to Moscow.
- Hotel check-in at Moscow hotels is generally 24-hour, but confirm late arrival with your property.
- The road to Moscow is a major highway, well-lit and well-maintained. The late-night drive is straightforward.
