BGI - Bridgetown

How much does it cost to get from Barbados Airport to your hotel?

Last updated: March 2026

Grantley Adams Airport sits at the southern tip of Barbados, about 15 km from Bridgetown. Because the island is small, all destinations are within 75 minutes of the airport. However, west coast resorts are a genuine distance away, and costs reflect that.

Government-set taxi fares

Barbados uses a zone-based taxi fare system set by the government. This removes much of the guesswork, though you should still confirm the fare with the driver before departure.

Pre-booked transfer prices

Private transfers cost slightly more than taxis but include meet-and-greet, fixed pricing, and guaranteed vehicle type.

Currency note

The Barbados Dollar is pegged to the US Dollar at a fixed rate: BBD 2 = USD 1. Both currencies are accepted across the island. You will often receive change in a mix of both. There is no advantage to exchanging money. ATMs dispense BBD.

Surcharges

There is typically a small surcharge for luggage exceeding normal holiday amounts. Late night pickups (after 11 PM) may also carry a modest premium, though this is not always applied. Confirm with the driver or your transfer provider.
