The terminal remains fully lit and operational. Immigration, customs, currency exchange, and ATMs are all available during nighttime arrivals. The airport area itself is well-secured. The road from Bole Airport to the city center follows the main Bole Road, which is a wide, paved avenue. Street lighting is inconsistent in some sections but the road is busy enough that isolation is not a concern.
Addis Ababa is generally safer at night than many African capitals, but standard precautions apply. Stick to main roads, keep valuables out of sight, and avoid walking long distances from the airport after dark.
