Dalaman Airport does not serve a single city. It is a gateway to a stretch of coastline, and your costs depend heavily on where you are going. Here are realistic price ranges for the most common routes.
What a taxi actually costs
Taxis here are metered and the meter is compulsory. The Muğla Metropolitan Municipality tariff is 150 TRY to start plus 50 TRY per kilometre, with waiting time at 250 TRY per hour and a 250 TRY minimum fare (Muğla Büyükşehir Belediyesi, council decision no. 40, in force 12 February 2026). The same decision requires the meter to be running and bans extra charges for luggage.

Multiply your own distance by 50 TRY, add the 150 TRY start, and you have the fare before waiting time — every 10 km adds 500 TRY, which is why the long coastal runs get expensive. Tariffs are revised regularly, so check the current one before you travel.

What affects the price
Time of day: Late-night taxi fares tend to run higher because demand is concentrated and drivers have leverage. Pre-booked transfers usually charge the same regardless of arrival time.
Season: Peak summer months (July-August) can push prices up slightly, especially for taxis. Transfer companies may adjust seasonal pricing but it is less variable.
Vehicle type: A standard sedan transfer for 1-3 passengers costs less than a minivan for 4-7 passengers. This is logical but worth noting when comparing quotes.
Currency fluctuation: The Turkish lira fluctuates significantly, and the meter tariff itself is periodically revised to keep pace, most recently by the 12 February 2026 council decision cited above. A lira fare you read in an old guide is usually out of date, so check the current tariff. Transfer companies that quote in euros or dollars provide more price certainty.
Hidden costs to watch for
Taxi drivers occasionally try to add surcharges for luggage or late-night service. These are not legitimate: the Muğla tariff bans any charge beyond what the meter reads, explicitly including luggage, and it sets a single rate with no night tariff. The tariff card must be displayed inside the vehicle, so ask to see it.
Some shared shuttle services advertise a low per-person rate but then charge extra for luggage beyond one bag. Clarify this before boarding.
Tolls are not a factor on the Dalaman routes, so any surcharge for tolls is not legitimate.
The value calculation
For solo travelers to Fethiye, a shared shuttle is the most economical option if you do not mind the wait and the indirect route. For couples, the cost of a private transfer split two ways is competitive with two shuttle tickets and far more convenient. For families or groups of three or more, a private transfer is almost always the best value.
