Getting from Corfu Airport to Your Resort with Kids

Last updated: February 2026

Corfu is a popular family holiday destination, and the airport handles thousands of families with children during the summer months. The airport itself is small and manageable. The challenge is getting from arrivals to a resort that may be 30-60 minutes away with tired children.

The airport with kids

Corfu Airport is compact. The walk from the plane to baggage claim is short, and there is not much ground to cover inside the terminal. This is actually an advantage with children - you will not be walking for 20 minutes through corridors.

There are restrooms with changing facilities in the arrivals area. A small cafe operates during flight arrival times for drinks and snacks. Trolleys are available for luggage.

The downside of the small airport is that it gets very crowded when multiple flights land together. The baggage claim area and arrivals hall can feel cramped and warm during summer peak times. Having a plan to get out quickly helps.

Car seats

Greek taxis are not required to provide child car seats, and virtually none carry them. If your child needs a car seat or booster, you either bring your own travel seat or request one through a transfer service.

Pre-booked transfer companies will supply car seats if you request them at booking time. Specify the age and weight of your child so they provide the correct type. Always confirm this a day before travel.

If you are renting a car, the rental company can provide car seats - book them with the car reservation, not at the counter, as they can run out during peak season.

Vehicle size matters

A typical Corfu taxi is a mid-size sedan. The realistic capacity with a family is: two adults, one or two children, and two medium suitcases. If you have a stroller, a car seat, more than two bags, or more than two children, you will not fit comfortably.

Booking a minivan transfer solves this. You specify your group size and luggage at booking, and the vehicle matches. This removes the stress of arriving at the taxi rank and hoping a larger car is available.

The drive to your resort

Corfu's roads are scenic but winding. Children prone to car sickness should be prepared with medication or seated where they can see out the front. The drive to northern resorts like Sidari is about 45-60 minutes of twisting coastal road. Southern destinations like Kavos take a similar time.

Bring water and snacks for the car journey. There are few stops between the airport and most resorts, and your children will likely be hungry and thirsty after the flight.

Practical family recommendations

Pre-book your transport. Waiting in a taxi queue with children at Corfu Airport during peak season is one of the least pleasant ways to start a family holiday. Having a driver waiting with a large enough vehicle and a car seat ready makes the transition from airport to resort smooth.

If your resort offers a pickup service, confirm the details in writing. Ask about vehicle size and child seats. Some resort shuttles are minibuses without individual car seats.

Keep expectations realistic for the first evening. If you arrive late, feed the children something simple and get them to bed. The island will be there in the morning.
